I've just completed round one edits, a long process. I will admit, at first I was so upset, felt like my book, my baby, was being ripped apart. I went through all the normal emotions, anger, grief, disappointment.
The more I pressed forward though, with the help of an editor who actually cared what I thought, I discovered it was really a learning process. I know that going forward, I will be looking for things in my writing I would have brushed off before, unaware of their importance. I will be able to write a better piece, with less edits needing to be made.
I became friends with my editor, and in turn she was more like a mentor than just someone reading my stuff.
It has been an adventure, a long road, but now as I head into round two edits, I'm much more confident.
Less than two weeks until Decadent launches, and my novel is available for the world to see!
